don’t dare break the glass
that’s keeping the fire inside
else the light will stop
How do you take care of yourself nowadays? How do you treat your body which is the temple of the Holy Spirit? How do you feed the vessel use by the Lord to advance His Kingdom to the world? Have you ever think of living a long life serving our Father in heaven?
These are the questions that challenges me nowadays. Oh, I never thought this will gonna be a challenge not until I notice my fatty-protruding stomach. Mother-of-pearl!
With all honesty, I don’t care about myself before. I only care for the things that gives me happiness and those are more about mental and spiritual than physical. In short, I grew-up ugly and with no confidence to myself… except that I am a very intelligent kid, holy cow! There LIES my confidence =)
But last year, it rattles me to know that I have blood in the urine after I got the results of my annual check-up. I remember those were the times when I became afraid of worse diseases. O yeah, I have nightmares! I am scared to death that even if I have my medical insurance I refused to go and consult a doctor up to this day.
It’s only lately that I am becoming conscious of my health. I am starting now to eat more fruits and vegetables. I am limiting my intake of carbohydrates and sugar. I am now starting to dance as a form of exercise and downloaded aerobics Zumba from YouTube so I can exercise even if I am inside the house.
The Lord is now making me realize the importance of taking care of my own body because…
I know He can use me and all my talents to spread His Words.
He can use me for my husband and for my children.
He can use me for my friends, for my relatives, for my neighbors, for my office mates and for you, my readers.
He can use me for myself because I am a work in progress and God must finish what He had started in me.
And you, I want you to stop what you are doing today and start to think of your self, your body, your health. Because at the end of the day, we all know that what we can do to God and to others will become limited if we will spend the rest of our lives in sickness. Although, God can still use us in that situation because there is no limit to his power, still, we can offer our full strength to serve Him.
Remember, you are a chosen vessel… you are knitted carefully in your mother’s womb… you are loved by the Lord most High so do take care of yourself. Promise us you do.
For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. – 1 Timothy 4:8
