Boredom slowly taking its toll on me. It is creeping inside my body, squeezing my heart and made me pull my hair one by one. What I will be doing now that I have to stay at home? WHAT WILL I GONNA DO NOW?!!!
You know, I get used to working 12 hours a day before. I am a very workaholic person. Now I am here? The whole day today, I spent watching drama on TV. I am crying the whole afternoon until my eyes gets bulky. WAAAA!
Before I completely lost my sanity over doing nothing, I need to grab the little notebook I have bought the night I left my job. I started writing down the resolutions I would like to implement to myself. Oh yeah, at least I am convinced that if I do not have to work I must at least make the most in housekeeping and in my relationship to my husband and children.
I know that God will never put me back into this situation if He has no plan about my life. And yeah, I know… He will provide so I’d better do what He purpose me to do here in this prison… ae, house rather.
In no time, ideas keep flowing out. Some, I gotten right before I sleep, some while reading books, and some are drawn from my experiences. Currently I am now in number 30. I am planning to write down 100 resolutions just to pour out the craziness inside me. All of which I will going to share with you one by one. But this is too much to be carried out, right? It will become a pressure to me later on. As much as possible, I would like to summarize them all into ten or twelve. If not, let it be.
I understand that resolutions like that we do every new year are not meant to come to pass. But what if yes, we intentionally make them come true at least for ourselves or for our family? After all, we have God who will guide us through, right? He has given us power more than ourselves to make things happen.
Here are the reasons why we must create resolutions or personal goals to live by anytime of the year:
To constantly live on purpose.
It is easy to think that when we stay at home, we no longer have any purpose any more other than doing our household chores. Please do not think this way. Again, God will never put us here in this situation without a purpose.
Think about the times when God allows the people in the Bible to have a retreat. Often times, those were the times when He is perfecting them and preparing them for something big. Now look around you, who are the people God are entrusting under your care today? I’ll bet you have your spouse and your children, right? How are you to improve yourself for the betterment of these people? How will you do the role He’s giving you now? How are you to model Godliness to your daily audience, your family?
To have vision and sense of direction.
Oh yes, not because you are staying home you will no longer have visions in life. Vision is a clear mental picture of what you would like to become or to happen in the future. I can say this will greatly motivate you even in the midst of the mundane and boring life you are living. It will keep you going.
Right now, I am envisioning a more stronger family. Godly children who studies well and a husband who’s inspired to support his family. Me as a wife will be able to manage everything well so even with the least of financial resources, we can still make each and every one’s dream come true. This may require living a simple life but a simple life with the Lord is a rich life, indeed!
To be able to know where I should improve and to measure how I am improving.
God is changing us every day. We are new every morning, but many of us are not aware of these changes. If we really are God’s people we must have the willingness to change in obedience to God. We must know where we are failing in order to correct them with His help.
I told you earlier, I can do a hundred resolutions which I am wishing to reduce to 12 because that is how I need improvement for today. There are many areas in my life that God needs to touch and improve. I need to intentionally know where I am failing and work on them one by one. Then, see if I am improving or where I should exert more efforts with. This will teach me discipline which is good.
A word of caution though, I know I cannot do anything apart from God so I should never deviate from this truth when I reach any of my goals.
To be able to share my testimony and help others.
With sheer determination and with God’s grace, we can do everything. I hate to say that we need to experiment with the people we love in order to know what particular principle will work or not. But we need to. We need to have them as our guinea pigs for the mean time.
As you all know, I am a wide reader and I have read a lot! But what is the use of those readings if I will not use the learning? And what is the use of proven techniques if I will not share them with others? Isn’t this selfishness? We are here to teach one another, to help each other, to encourage and to share the blessings we have from the Lord.
So the main reason why we must improve ourselves is to help improve the lives of others. This should not be for self-righteousness sake.
Whether we are working or staying home, we can be the best of who God wants us to be. We can share the light from where we are because no matter what we do, we cannot hide that light.
